Artisan Web Site

Welcome.

My name is Ari Koinuma. Ari Koinuma

I enjoy empowering small businesses to wield the power of internet.

My fee generally starts at around $3000.

If this is something you’re interested in, please read on.

Cool.

Let me tell you a little about what I do.

First, I am passionate about clean, minimalist design with lots of empty spaces.

Why?

Because they are more effective.

Take a look at these sites. Guess which one is more successful.

Yahoo HomeGoogle Home

Web sites need focus. And I help you find that focus.

Second, you will learn how to maintain your site.

I build web sites using WordPress and Drupal, which are popular, easy-to-learn content management systems.

Training is always included. You’re going to learn how to update texts, put up new images and post blogs. All on your own.

Third, you’ll learn how to use your web site.

Having a web site built is just a start — it won’t do squat for you on its own.

You need to really use your web site to achieve specific goals, such as increasing your revenue or growing your customer base.

I’ll advise you on effective and efficient approaches that will make a real impact, meeting your business needs and suiting your personal style.

And I’m a pro at explaining things so that you can understand.

I have little kids at home — so I am practicing everyday.

So, my consulting includes loads of education and business strategy.

(But I only charge for web sites)

Finally, I do care a great deal about:

  1. You loving your site
  2. Your site helping your business
  3. The pride I take in sites I build
Which brings me to the bad news.

First, making web sites is hard work.

And I’m talking about you, not just me.

If you are not prepared to:

  • be bombarded with questions
  • read and write very detailed e-mails
  • provide quality images of you and your products
  • do a heck of a lot of writing

Then I suggest you go no further.

Second, no rush jobs.

If you need it quick, please look elsewhere.

And finally, I only work with people I like.

They:

  • are nice
  • pay fast
  • love their business passionately
(They’d still be doing it even if they won a lottery)

Wow, you’re still here!

Perhaps you and I are meant to work together.

For my fees, I like to charge on per-project basis.

That way, I can take the time to do a good job for you without worrying about increasing the hours/cost.

My current range starts at around $3000 for a complete web site.

I am available to work on an hourly basis at $75/hr as well.

I always ask for a down payment of at least $500 to start a project.

I’ll be happy to consider a discount and/or work trade for non-profits and starving artists.

Thanks for making it to the end! Please use the form below to contact me.

About

Ari Koinuma

Hi. I’m Ari Koinuma.

I started making web sites in 1998, and have been a full-time professional since 2005.

My day job is to work on e-commerce projects for big corporations like Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and Adobe.

This site is about my freelance work, which I take on whenever I find clients that I’m excited about working with.

I live with my wife, two little kids and one grumpy old cat in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.

Thanks for visiting my web site! :-)

Portfolio

  • Lost in Sunshine

    Lost in Sunshine, Indie Film

A major Drupal site. They had their graphic designer do the web design, but I did all the site development.

“If you want someone who’s friendly, talented, and that cares about you and your final product, Ari is your man. We owe the user friendliness and clever functionality of our entire site to him!” – Jentri Chancey, Filmmaker

  • Susan Broadwell

    Susan Broadwell, Holistic Psychotherapist

A template-based WordPress site. I modified the stock design so that it works better as a “brochure site” that has just a few pages.

“Ari was fun to work with, efficient, and taught me how to easily make changes to my WordPress site!” – Susan

  • Michelle Glaser

    Michelle Glaser, Musician

A template-based WordPress site. I didn’t modify the template much, but I did implement the mailing list, music player and other widgets available from Reverb Nation, an indie musician resource site.

“Ari is a true professional. He’s efficient, organized and easy to work with.” – Michelle

  • Lorie Marsh

    Lorie Marsh, Indie film Producer

A template-based WordPress site. Lorie purchased a professional, customizable template, so she and I collaborated on creating the banner image, color scheme and typography.

Ari’s not just a functionary developer, he’s a terrific consultant. He doesn’t expect you to speak “web development” and tell him what to do; he asks questions, questions, questions that enable him to grasp your needs and desires and translate them into matching “web-ness.” – Lorie

  • Robert Harley

    Robert Harley, Author

This is actually not a WordPress or Drupal site — Robert wanted me to update the existing site, so I came up with a new design and reorganized it.

  • Minnesota Public Radio

The Current Playlist by Minnesota Public Radio

This is a big project I did for an ex-employer. I didn’t do the design but I did all of the front-end coding, which includes all the interactive elements like star-rating and song-request windows.

  • Rebecca Cioni, Web Designer

    Rebecca Cioni, Web Designer

Rebecca is not my client, she’s my collaborator. My strength lies in consulting and coding, so I bring outside help if a project calls for a heavy-duty graphic design.

Rebecca is one of the best. I consider it a privilege to be associated with her.
