Even on a Bad Day, Routines Carry Me Forward

Some days are better, others you don’t feel good about.  Today was the latter.

But as I evaluate what I didn’t do right and what lessons I need to learn, I’m comforted by things I did include in my day.

I still got up this morning and exercised.  I still exercised on my guitar.   These are routines I built into my day — I don’t get to them everyday, but still, they are engrained in enough that I get to them most of the days.  And while they won’t catapult me forward, I know that diligence builds.

I used to be a freer spirit, and I still think there’s time and place for that.  But these days, I believe in structure, routines, and repetitions.

What you repeat builds.  I’m glad I figured that out.
