I am so excited!

I just learned that with version 3.0, WordPress has a built-in feature to run multiple blogs with one installation.

Now, I realize this is a total geek moment — but for those of you who are not web developers, allow me to explain.

I own several blogs, some of which have been inactive.  While I make no excuses that my inability to keep up with them lies in my lack of discipline — part of the reason is because I long felt that installing WordPress for each one of the blogs was an inefficient (and thus very unmotivating) way to go.

Installing WordPress is relatively easy, it’s true.  But, then you have to install plugins and themes for each, then you have to keep all of them backed up and up-to-date….

But now that WordPress is designed to do what I long wanted to, I can’t wait to migrate all my blogs into a single WordPress.  I’ll be so excited and proud about my new setup.

And to relate this to a larger theme, I am reminded, once again, about how having the right tools can make a huge impact.

Volkswagen is right: fun can change a behavior for the better.

So — let’s say you’re wanting to change yourself.  For example, I am not the best organizer in the world….

Then, invest in the greatest and funnest tools for organizing.  Tools that are so slick, efficient and effective that you just can’t wait to play with them.

Same thing with exercising or getting up early.  Invest in tools, create a setup, make it fun.

It’s not everyday that I get excited about web development.  It’s my job, not my calling — I only do it if it pays me.

Well, this is an exception.  This project has the potential to help me create and maintain a better online presence.

I can’t wait.
