I am good at relentlessly working, working, working, but not as good at celebrating milestones. I always feel like they are such tiny baby steps, they don’t matter. Done! On to the next item on the list.
Yes, I know. That’s not right.
So here I am, announcing two milestones in my ongoing Evil Plan for World Domination: launching ImpactfulSongwriter.com and re-launching SelfSufficientMusician.com.
The former blog is for songwriters who want to create impacts with their songs. The latter is a blog about music career and business. Both topics very dear to my heart.
Now, don’t ask me how I’m going to keep up with all these blogs. Not very well, I’m sure. But I tried going the other way and putting these diverse topics under a single umbrella of a web site, but I just haven’t been able to wrap my brain that way. Others, like PioneerWoman successfully merges several unrelated topics under one personal brand. I think that makes sense on many levels.
But I just can’t do it. I think of something to post in all these different subject areas, but once it comes to actually sitting down and writing, I constantly think about the readers. And about how the heck I’m going to explain what Ari Koinuma is. I’ve currently settled on Musician and Web Developer, but notice I don’t have a Web Development blog yet, and how does Our Best Version, my oldest and most popular blog, fit into this picture?
So, as unadvisable and ambitious-for-all-the-wrong-reasons it is, I’m going to be a king of a handful of sites, each with small, niche posts and probably equally small audience. It’ll look impressive, I’m sure, if I put them all under one site and tallied up the traffic numbers. Not to mention all the headache that comes with managing multiple domains that run on the same code.
Nah, I’m not feeling sorry for myself. I’m just chuckling. I think part of brilliance is defined by what good, sensible advices we ignore.
So, here’s to my two new babies. May they find their audience.
OK, on to next. What the heck am I going to launch? ;-)
