Aries9: Diamond Sleeps Tonight

Of the songs on my debut album, this was among the newest at the time and thus more indicative of the latest direction I was heading.  Only two verses and choruses each with a long instrumental section.  The quasi-metal riff tips a hat to System of a Down.  The name “Geordine” is not someone I know, but I had a good friend named Geraldine, so that’s where it came from.  I am fond of using a girl’s name in songs — I am often surprised to realize that I don’t do it more often.

Aries9: Diamond Sleeps Tonight

Paulina, will you please come and meet Geordine?
The drama of our end deserves a cool fanzine

Will you come and sleep with me?
Will you come and sweep with me?
Your imitation diamonds
Will you come and sleep with me?

Paulina, your dress hides your ugly rage
Alligator obscene repulsive black tar cage

Will you come and sleep with me?
Will you come and creep with me?
Will you dissolve in my compromise?
Will you come and weep with me?

Corner covered with a darkest purple bruise
Fake skin, fake fur manufactured from your face
Pretend, so true, on a one-way hell-bound cruise
Vanish core cells without a faintest trace

Corner covered with a darkest purple bruise
Fake skin, fake fur manufactured from your face
Pretend, so true, glass crystals, they diffuse
Breathe deep, come down, get off this suicide race
