Raid is a very simple modern rock song. It sort of sounds like the type of things Foo Fighters would do. The chord and groove stay pretty much the same throughout.
I lost the lyrics to this song so I just whipped out a new one before this recording. Whatever the old version was, I know I didn’t like it as much as I do this one. I’m particularly fond of the last chorus — it chokes me up. ”Sun of Iscariots” is a fake cult that I just made up — I hope nothing like that really exists. I just liked how it rhymed with “chariots.”
Heavy Poets: Raid
When the new order came with chariots
And fire planes of gold
With faith in the Sun of Iscariots
I soiled the scars untoldThrough the veins of concrete
I have lost my life
Throw away this comfort
Cut me up with a knifeShe made the move, I justified
As other souls have done
A chain of command, so dignified
I gave my code, begoneThrough the veins of concrete
I have lost my life
Throw away this comfort
Free me up with a knifeWhen I’m on the other side
When I’m through this strife
I will right our raid
I will sing for your life
