If you have not come across Vincent Lima, now is the best time to get on his bandwagon. This Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter is in the middle of launching, and for good reasons.
My good friend Paula turned me on to Vincent in early 2024. I was fortunate enough to catch him play live twice in Minneapolis / St. Paul and I am 100% sold.
Yes, he is blessed with one of those voices with all kinds of feels. But he uses it to its maximum effect by writing perfect songs for it. A piano balladeer who specializes in somber, gut-wrenching songs, he found a rich vein of rightful metaphors in the Greek myth of Orpheus. The yearning and downfall of Orpheus and Eurydice serve as a great backdrop through which Vincent reminds us how to feel these often difficult, but ultimately cleasing, feelings.
In this video I point out a few of deft songwriting touches in the song “Orpheus.”

How Vincent uses repetition in key moments for emphasis

His voice, the story and his artist persona align very well
